Meet Lauren

Lauren Haile has joined the chorale as our collaborative pianist for the Fall 2023 session.

Lauren first moved to Sonoma County in 2003 to attend SSU as a music major. She has been very involved in the local music community ever since! Over the years, she has taught private lessons, taught chorus in schools, directed and accompanied for musical theater productions and choir ensembles, and sung professionally with Sonoma Bach. In 2020, Lauren suffered profound and unexplained hearing loss. She became completely deaf in one ear and severely impaired in the other. With the help of a cochlear implant, a hearing aid, and enormous support from her community, she has been able to forge a new musical path and couldn’t be more grateful to still be making music. Currently, she serves as the Music Director at Elim Lutheran Church in Petaluma and considers it a dream job, and, for the past ten years, has accompanied joyfully for the CGHS choir. Lauren has been a part of the local indie music scene since 2006, serves on the board at the Phoenix Theater, and plays drums in her band, Trebuchet, along with her husband and two other SSU music alums. She resides in Petaluma with her amazingly talented and supportive husband, her hilarious and inspiring daughter, and her annoying cat.

The Petaluma Chorale is a mixed vocal ensemble dedicated to the art of superior choral singing, including formal, jazz, Broadway and other contemporary styles. The Petaluma Chorale presents biannual concerts in the Fall and Spring. New members are always welcome! A simple audition is required for new members (or returning members who've not sung with group in two years or more) in order to place them into the proper section within the chorus. Ability to read music is helpful but not required.
