REHEARSALS:
Advance notice will be given for any changes to date, time and/or venue. All rehearsals have a refreshment break.
- Tuesdays, 7:00-9:15 pm
- Dress rehearsal on Tuesday the week of concerts, 6:30-9:30 pm.
REHEARSAL MATERIALS:
- Black 3-ring binder or choral folder
- Pencil
- Water bottle (if desired)
MUSIC:
Music will be provided. Please only mark with pencil and return the music (with all markings erased) at the end of the last performance.
REHEARSAL CONCERNS:
For help with your voice part or with any singing concerns, please contact the director to set up a lesson or consultation.
PLEASE NO FRAGRANCES! If we can’t breathe, we can’t sing!
PRACTICE AIDS:
The following are free programs/apps available on the computer, phone or tablet to be used as aids for practicing each session’s materials (these are not mandatory but very helpful).
A Chorale Comments email will be sent to all singers with links to each of the below practice aids for the current session’s music.
Appcompanist: free app that uses piano recordings of individual voice parts.
Musescore: free app that allows singers to play each voice part alone or in conjunction with other parts.
YouTube: recordings of most pieces will be sent to hear the entirety of each piece.
CONCERT ATTIRE:
ALL BLACK CLOTHING IN PLAIN MATERIAL WITH NO PATTERN!
ONE PIECE:
Dress: floor or tea length, with ¾ length or long sleeves
BOTTOMS:
Skirt: floor or tea length
Dress pants: floor length (no leggings)
Dress slacks: floor length
TOPS:
Southeastern Performance Apparel top: selected by the director (available for purchase)
Blouse: ¾ length or long sleeves
Dress shirt: long sleeves, worn with tie
Tie: long, worn with dress shirt
SHOES:
Dress shoes: with black socks, worn with dress slacks
Dress shoes: with low heels, worn with dress, dress pants or skirt
JEWELRY:
Silver or gold
Necklaces with no visible displays of color
Earrings should be studs or no more than 1 inch in length
Wrist watches ok, smart watches should be silenced
ATTENDANCE:
Chorale members are expected to attend every rehearsal. Everyone has circumstances that affect attendance, but participating in rehearsals is critical to learning and creating a lovely sound as well as preparing for concert performances. If a chorale member consistently misses rehearsal, he/she/they may be excused from concert performances. However, if you are sick PLEASE stay home. Notify the director of any absences.
HEALTH POLICY:
The Petaluma Chorale takes the health of its singers seriously. Singers who are exhibiting symptoms of illness are expected to stay home and should notify the director. Masking and/or distancing might be measures sufficient to attend rehearsal if symptoms are mild unless testing positive for Covid.
